Artists in the Past
Ron Gulsavig (Nov - Dec 2005) "There's a certain mystic to film and the excitement when you see the image in its final form. I shoot film but scan the image digitally."
Brenda Bolte (Sept - Oct 2005): Brenda, a photographer/actor/jeweler/sculptor who wanted to paint, showed a series of acrylics on canvas, and as Brenda said herself, "[e]ach painting, so different from the next, seems to be the capturing of a "Moment".
Libby Mitchell (July - Aug 2005): Libby brought works from her Cupborad Project which she began in 2002; an experiment to see how different people react when occupying the same space...you guessed it, a cupboard.
David A. Tucker II (May - June 2005): This was David's provacative and ongoing Dancework series of dance nudes that he began in 1995. If you get a chance to see his work elsewhere, do it.
Jerry Becker Steffen, Jr. (March - April 2005): Jerry is a self-taught watercolorist who likes to paint in rich, vibrant colors using textures and backgrounds of unusal subjects and still lifes.
Amanda DeSilver (Jan-Feb 2005): Amanda DeSilver's work can be described as "Emotional Landscapes," from the representational to the abstract. To visit Amanda's colorful work, visit her Amanda DeSilver Web site, and the Silver Gallery.
Randy Hillam (Nov-Dec 2004): Though Randy has been involved in design, color, paint and decorating for the past sixteen years; only in the past four years (at the time of this writing) has he been making a study and discipline of fine art. His work in this show was particularly influenced by the Abstract Expressionsist painters of the post-war period.
Martha Lyttle (Sept-Oct 2004): Martha's work in this show was a result of her attempt to push soft pastels in a new direction. She fell in love with the play of using gesso, pastel and water on paper and discovered that it lends itself well to her movement toward abstraction.
Josh Brown and Jeffrey Pankey - Mixed media (July-Aug 2004): Josh and Jeffrey are Seattle artists working under the Artistic Media Group, and this series presented works from their Cultural Reclamation Project.
Beth Bennett - Acrylic paintings on wood (May-Jun 2004): In addition to being an accomplished artist, Beth is also one of Caffè Zingaro's valued employees.
Anthony Palomo - Watercolor paintings (Mar-Apr 2004): Mr. Palomo is a Filipino artist residing in Batangas City, Philippines. His work is shown internationally.
